Wilson confident on new player
Mobilx Newcastle Vipers head coach Rob Wilson this morning confirmed the club last night took a further step towards recruiting a replacement for the departed Todd Griffith with three possibilities now in the pipeline. Following his decision to release Griffith two weeks ago the Vipers have experienced set backs with attempts to sign Ryan Finnerty and Jeff Corey, however Wilson is now confident a deal could be finalised over the weekend.
“I had some good conversations late yesterday and last night with three players and their agents” confirmed Wilson. “From those three we’ve got one player we’re really pushing hard to try and bring to Tyneside and I believe he could make a massive difference to our line-up. The good thing for us is that with the economic downturn around the world, there is a lot of very good players available right now and because the bigger money is no longer available in the likes of Denmark, the Bundesliga and Italy it’s allowed us to be more competitive for the top end guys.”
The Vipers welcome the GMB Nottingham Panthers to the Metro Radio Arena on Sunday (5.30pm face-off).
