The Glasgow Clan made a landmark forward signing on Monday [18 August].

Tristin Langan inked a one-year contract with the Elite League outfit, touching down in Scotland after two seasons in Norway with the Stavanger Oilers.

“Tristin is one of those players where it didn’t take me a lot of time to know that I wanted him,” said Clan head coach Corey Neilson.

“He can score, has a positive face-off percentage, and is a great competitor. I really liked his video immediately and he has a great connection with Brayden Burke, as they have played on the same line in the past.”

The 26-year-old, who plays as a centreman or left winger, is Glasgow’s thirteenth forward signing of the offseason.

Who is Glasgow Clan forward Tristin Lang?

Lang enjoyed a slow-burning major junior career with the Western Hockey League’s Moose Jaw Warriors.

After recording 71 points (25 goals, 66 assists) in 174 appearances through his first three seasons in the WHL, the Swan River native found another level in his fourth and final campaign with Moose Jaw.

Langan finished 2018-19 as the WHL’s leading goal-scorer, potting 113 points (53 goals, 60 assists) in 67 games to earn First All-Star Team recognition.

He inked his first professional contract with the Orlando Solar Bears, with whom he would spend four seasons in the ECHL.

Langan’s third division career yielded 201 points (76 goals, 125 assists) and 195 penalty minutes in 239 appearances, paving the way for a European move in 2023-24.

The 1998-born forward spent the last two seasons in Norway, recording 71 points (31 goals, 4o assists) in 89 games for Stavanger.

Langan arrives in Glasgow with an impressive resume — and the skills to match.

The ECHL to Elite League pathway is highly projectable.

That’s to say: a player’s record in North America’s third tier usually carries over onto these shores.

Not always, there are exceptions to every rule, but most proven ECHL talents thrive in the Elite League.

And Langan is exactly that.

The Canadian played two full seasons in the ECHL and twice broke the 50-point boundary. He was at his best (in points-per-game terms) in 2021-22, when he scored 47 points (15 goals, 32 assists) in 51 games.

After scoring in similar quantities in Norway, Langan joins the Clan as a strong top-six candidate.

Nielson entered last season’s playoffs with Mitchell Heard, Rylan Schwartz, and Deven Sideroff on his first line.

Heard, Schwartz, and Sideroff have all re-signed for 2025-26 — and Neilson is unlikely to fracture his favoured trio to start the campaign.

As a result, Langan looks set for second-line minutes, most likely with former Moose Jaw linemate Brayden Burke by his side.

All signs point to this being a solid piece of business by the Clan.
