Edinburgh Capitals have boosted the British contingent on their 2016/2017 roster with the signing of forward Sean Beattie.

The 21-year-old progressed through the junior system at Edinburgh before moving into the Elite League squad on a permanent basis in 2014.

“Last year I thought I developed well with my game and playing thanks to the ice time I was getting,” said Beattie.

“For the upcoming season the biggest goal for our team is to make the play-offs and I’d like to see us finish the season at the top end of the table.

“I’m also excited about Michal Dobron coming in to coach the team this year.

“I played with him a few seasons back and as a player he showed incredible commitment and discipline both on and off the ice.

“That’s going to help him coach a good strong Capitals team for the up and coming season.”

Dobron added: “I remember Sean as being a good young player from a couple of seasons ago and I’m told he’s getting better each year. He’s a big player physically.

“As a young local player I want to help him develop further this season.

“He’s going to be another important player for us as we build our 2016/17 squad and I look forward to working with him.”
