Matt Beca believes Braehead Clan have a mental edge over Saturday’s opponents Fife Flyers.

Despite the Flyers being the form team in the league, having taken 17 points from a possible 20, they are without a win in their last six meetings with Ryan Finnerty’s side.

“We’ve played them at times where we really need to get the win and guys buckle down and focus,” said Beca.

“It’s maybe just one of those things where we have a mental edge on them – those things happen and we hope to continue it this week.

“In whatever building, fans from both sides make it loud and the intensity is there and as a player, those are the most fun games to play in.

“You can feel the atmosphere in the build-up and everyone’s excited for those games. It has a play-off type feel as well.

“It was a sell out the last time we played them just before Christmas and the fans giving us the extra energy is huge for us.

“Their fans bring plenty of noise as well and it’s important to keep your composure and feed off the energy of the crowd.”
