Black excited by Clan future

Clan, British Ice Hockey
Glasgow’s Braehead Clan chairman Neil Black is excited about the club’s future and believes head coach John Tripp is the man to take the club forward.
Black, was joined by Hockey & Operations Director Gareth Chalmers, as the pair held a Q&A at The Normandy Hotel in Renfrew on Wednesday night.
“We’ve got a very good organisation here at the Clan and certainly one of the top clubs in the country” said Black.
“We are very ambitious and the target for the club is to win our first major trophy, and build from there.
“We are playing in the biggest city in the EIHL and the growth of the club has been phenomenal over the past eight season’s.
“While we’re currently in tenth place you have to take the start of the season into context. We have only played 15 games, 5 at home and 10 away from Braehead.
“When you compare that to 2015/16 and 2016/17, after 15 games the records are almost identical. Once we get some momentum on home ice we will start to see the team climb the table.”
After the appointment of John Tripp during the summer, Black believes the club have the right man to drive the Clan forward.
“I have been very impressed with John, he is very professional and we like the character he brings to the organisation.
“He’s new to the role, new to the UK and will be learning every single day here. However he comes from a very high level and has been involved in some very professional organisations.
“That’s what we wanted John to bring here and we’re excited with what is in store for the future.”
Tickets for the visit of the Dundee Stars on Saturday (7:00pm face-off), are available now via braeheadclan.com, by calling 0844 499 1700 or direct at the Braehead Arena box office.
