Coventry Blaze have confirmed Great Britain forward Ashley Tait has signed a new one-year contract with the club.

The 40-year-old has captained Blaze to eight major trophies over an eight-year spell and is only the sixth player to make 700 appearances in Elite League competitions.

Director of Hockey Operations, James Pease, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Ash back.

“It goes without saying that he remains one of the premium British players in the Elite League and his passion for the game and determination to help make our club successful remains as strong as ever.

“He is a player that we can rely upon in any situation and who produces at both ends of the ice. He never takes a night off, keeps himself in phenomenal shape, leads by example and is well respected by everyone at the club.”

Tait added: “I don’t think it was ever a question, it was a just a case of figuring out the details. It’s a great place to play and I’m happy to be back.”
