Jonathan Ferland’s overtime winner clinched the points on the road for Belfast Giants to leave Braehead Clan devastated at another late loss.

After going down in the same fashion to Sheffield Steelers, they looked to make that right, but it wasn’t to be after losing a three-goal lead.

The home side put themselves ahead as Brendan Brooks teed up Ville Hämäläinen, the Clan captain, who sent his shot into the net.

Brooks himself added the second when he took on a pass from Ryan Potulny and finished his shot into the top corner.

Matt Haywood picked up Braehead’s third when he got enough of a touch on Mike Embach’s shot to send the bouncing puck beyond Giants goalie Jackson Whistle.

Mark Garside pulled one back with a blue line shot that left Ryan Nie beaten as the first period drew to a close.

Giants got to within one as Colin Shields sent the shot in from the centre that hit the post and dropped into the Braehead net, before Sebastien Sylvestre was ejected for headbutting.

The visitors got themselves level as a turnover saw John Kurtz take advantage with the equalising goal.

Then Ferland popped up with the late, late winner to conclude the night as Giants celebrated victory.
