British stars Colin Shields and Ben Bowns scooped two of the prizes at the Elite League player awards ceremony on Saturday.

Belfast Giants’ forward Shields (above) was chosen as British Player of the Year, while Cardiff Devils’ goalie Bowns picked up the Netminder of the Year award for the second successive season.

Cardiff swept the board in the remaining categories, with Joey Martin winning Forward of the Year for the second straight season and Andrew Lord deservedly selected as Coach of the Year after leading the Devils to the Challenge Cup, the Erhardt Conference and regular season title.

Andrew Hotham cleaned up with two awards – picking up Defenceman of the Year for the third straight season and bagging the Player of the Year crown for the first time.
