Edinburgh Capitals have signed forward Ned Lukacevic.

The ex-Fife Flyers and Coventry Blaze winger has enjoyed a productive spell in the Elite League, registering 122 points in 115 games.

Lukacevic said: “I’m extremely excited to become an Edinburgh Capital. I feel so blessed that this opportunity came to me late this week.

“I was actually scheduled to leave the UK for another club, but I am ecstatic that the Capitals and I were able to make a deal happen so quickly. I look forward to meeting my new teammates and helping the team anyway I can.”

Capitals’ Player/Coach said he was delighted to be able to add Lukacevic to his roster.

“He’s an experienced player who has proven his offensive talent in Europe and in North America. He had an opportunity to join another club in Europe, but chose to remain in the UK to join the Capitals.

“We agreed a deal quickly and he’ll be with us soon as we can complete the paperwork with the league. The roster spot opened up yesterday morning when Craig McCallum announced his decision to retire from professional hockey.

“He’s decided that he wants to return home to go back to college. We’re sorry to lose Craig, but we accept his decision. He’ll return to North America on Monday. At this stage we’re unclear on Craig’s participation this weekend.

“We’ve asked Craig to play, but the decision remains his. Regardless of what Craig decides, we thank him for his contribution this season, and we wish him well in his future.”
