Cardiff Devils 5 Glasgow’s Braehead Clan 0

Clan, British Ice Hockey
Glasgow’s Braehead Clan’s weekend didn’t get off to the best of starts as current Elite League champions Cardiff Devils hit them with a 5-0 loss.
Clan’s final weekend of travel for September didn’t get off to the best of starts as they headed to South Wales for a meeting with the champions.
The Devils hit early with a goal after only three minutes when Josh Batch was quick to react to a rebounded Mark Richardson effort to put them ahead.
Things livened up when Jacob Doty and Mark Louis dropped the gloves and hammered it out, earning them a five-minute major for fighting.
After all that, it was the home team celebrating again as a low Sean Bentivoglio shot evaded Clan goalie Ryan Nie and found its way in.
Andrew Lord’s side soon found themselves three up without reply as Richardson stuck away another for Cardiff after a well-executed pass from Drew Paris.
Braehead enjoyed some momentum going forward in the latter stage of the second period, but found netminder Ben Bowns not in the mood to give anything up.
Cardiff effectively killed the game off as a contest early in the third with Richardson, his second goal and third point of the night, making it four.
Then a couple of minutes later, Andrew Hotham made it 5-0 as Devils lead turned into victory a two points on the board.
