Braehead Clan have confirmed the signing of ex-Finnish international forward Toni Dahlman.

The 36-year-old moves to the Elite League after a spell in Poland with STS Sanok, and brings a wealth of experience from across a variety of leagues including the NHL.

Dahlman said: “I’m an experienced player and I consider myself a two-way player as well as someone who can pick up points.

“I hope I can get the team some points and be as effective in offense as I am in defense, but overall bring good quality.

“I’d heard a lot of good things about the UK in the past and when Braehead called me with a deal, it was something I wanted to try.

“I’ve been hearing a lot of positive things about the club and can’t wait to get over there and start playing.”

Dahlman played in the NHL in the 2001/02 season with the Ottawa Senators and has also played in Sweden, Germany, Austria and Finland.

He’ll be the second Finn to play in the Braehead purple, following on from former netminder Jaakko Suomalainen, who was between the pipes during the 2011/12 campaign.

Dahlman is expected to make his debut against Edinburgh Capitals on Thursday night.
