The Coventry Blaze have finally addressed their need for defensive depth.
Jordan Power will skate for the Elite League side for the rest of the season, with the 24-year-old inking a short-term contract at the Skydome Arena.
The Canadian joins the Blaze following a 19-game stint with the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits and five seasons in the NCAA.
“Jordan is a steady, young defenceman who defends hard and makes plays to speed,” said head coach Kevin Moore.
“He is a high character individual with a growth mindset and we’re excited to have him on board.”

Power is a product of the USHL, in which he scored 51 points (seven goals, 44 assists) in 101 games for the Lincoln Stars.
Clarkson University was the Ottawa-born defender’s next stop, with Power recording four points (one goal, three assists) in 22 appearances as a college freshman.
He transferred to Minnesota State University in 2023, helping the Mavericks claim the CCHA title a year later.
Power checked out of the NCAA with 43 points (10 goals, 33 assists) in 163 appearances and signed his first professional contract with Greenville in the final weeks of the 2024-25 season.
The 6-foot-2 defender spent parts of two seasons with the Swap Rabbits, tallying two assists.

Power is another one of Moore’s high potential bets from the NCAA.
When you look at the numbers, his record at the collegiate level is fine.
But there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to Coventry’s latest recruit.
“With Jordan it starts with his character,” said Moore.
“He’s been an assistant captain and has infectious enthusiasm. He’s a team-first connector, the kind of guy that every room needs.
“Jordan’s really versatile on the ice: he ran the powerplay at Clarkson and played more of a defensive role in Minnesota. He’s got a lot of skill, but he doesn’t overcomplicate the game, which I really appreciate and so much of that has to do with his habits.”
With Ivan Chukarov injured, Power’s arrival will come as immediate boost to the Blaze, who have won just won just two of their last ten games.
Despite those recent struggles, Coventry remain above the playoff line, just seven points behind the fifth-placed Glasgow Clan.
Adding Power is a smart piece of business by the Blaze.
