Edinburgh Capitals have boosted their defensive ranks with the signing of ex-Czech junior international Jaroslav Hertl.

The 26-year-old joins the Capitals after two successful seasons with GKS Tychy in Poland, helping the team to first and second placed finishes.

Player/Coach Michal Dobron said: “I was on the look out for a strong physical presence to complete my defence and in Jaroslav I’ve found the ideal player.

“He is a strong skater and brings experience playing at a high level, including two championship medals in Poland and Slovakia.

“I think I have the right mix of defensemen now in my line-up – size, offensive threat, and I know Jaroslav will fit right in to my team.”

Hertl added: “When I spoke to Michal he talked to me about the Capitals, the city and the Elite League and it’s all something I want to experience.

“In terms of what I’ll bring – I can play offensively, but also concentrate on the defensive side of the game.

“I’ll also bring a strong game, I can play physically. I’m looking forward to the weekend and getting started.”
