Sheffield Steeldogs have added Czech forward Jan Krivohlavek to their roster.
The 25-year-old has been signed as short-term cover for Donatas Kumeliauskas and Adrian Palak after the pair suffered injuries during Steeldogs’ recent home game against Peterborough Phantoms.
Player/Coach Greg Wood said: “Thankfully the ownership have been prepared to back us as a team and look to bring in some cover.
“Our two results at the weekend showed how close the margins in this league are – they could have been very different with a full team.
“There aren’t hundreds of players available at this time but we still had some good choices.
“Jan brings some size and with the experience he has in Czech 2, we were confident he would be a useful addition to the squad.
“With him on board it means we don’t have to rush anyone back – we can take our time to make sure both Donatas and Adrian are ready before we need to play them.
“We hope to have at least one of them back soon, but Jan’s presence means we can compete better over the two games we have each weekend.”
