Guildford Flames’ Head Coach Paul Dixon has urged his team to use Wednesday’s home victory over Basingstoke Bison as a platform for a strong end to the season.

Goals by Tuomas Santavuori, Kevin Phillips, Jez Lundin and Tom Duggan (above) secured a 4-3 win, pushing the Flames up to fifth place in the EPL table.

“It was nice to be able to get right back to action on Wednesday night after the weekend prior where we were not at all happy with the outcomes,” said Dixon.

“We were much sharper against Basingstoke at all positions, and it is always satisfying to get local derby bragging rights against a good hockey club like the Bison.

“Sunday night is another big test with Milton Keynes Lightning in our building. The key between now and then is to figure out a way to be more consistent from night to night.

“We know what we are capable of, yet we have often been our own worst opponent struggling to deliver that from one night to the next. Hopefully we can carry this forward during the Lightning stop.”
