Edinburgh Capitals have appointed Michal Dobron as Player/Coach for the 2016/17 Elite League season.

Dobron iced for the Capitals between 2012 and 2014 scoring 12 goals with 45 assists in 101 games.

He subsequently played in France, before accepting a coaching role in the Czech Republic.

Dobron said: “I feel I can bring many benefits to the Edinburgh Capitals through my vast experience of ice hockey over the years.

“When it comes to recruitment there are many great European and North American players available, but the team has to be built with sensitivity and I will take my time to assemble the best squad for the Capitals’ fans.

“I really enjoyed the time that I spent in Edinburgh before. I want to achieve the best results possible and treat the fans to hockey that will be interesting to watch and also effective.”

Capitals’ General Manager Scott Neil added: “I was delighted to have Michal approach me for the role of Player/Coach this season.

“He is a top pedigree all-round defender with a lot of experience. He has strong presence on the ice and is also a great team leader.

“I have every confidence that he will make an impact both on the ice and behind the bench.”
