Cardiff Devils closed the gap on Elite League leaders Nottingham Panthers to just two points after an impressive performance at Sheffield Steelers.

Sean Bentivoglio (2), Andrew Hotham, Mark Richardson and Guillaume Doucet got the goals as the Devils put an end to the Steelers’ unbeaten start to their league campaign.

Blair Riley was in fine form as Belfast Giants picked up a pair of road victories.

Riley scored twice in Giants’ 4-1 win at Coventry Blaze, while his overtime strike was the deciding goal in a 2-1 road success over Nottingham.

Scott Pitt (2) topped the scoring for Braehead Clan in their 6-3 home victory against Fife Flyers, while Mario Valery-Trabucco (2) led the way for Manchester Storm as they ran out 4-2 winners at home to Edinburgh Capitals.

Garrett Milan scored twice for the Capitals as they bounced back with a 4-1 home success against Coventry.

Dundee Stars recorded their first league win of the season with a narrow 3-2 win at home to Manchester – Mikael Lidhammar (2) led their scoring.

In the Challenge Cup, Braehead won 6-2 at Fife while Sheffield triumphed 5-4 at Cardiff.
