Reigning Elite League champions Sheffield Steelers had mixed fortunes on their weekend road trip to Scotland.

John Armstrong bagged the decider in the Steelers’ 6-5 shoot-out win at Edinburgh Capitals, but they failed to follow up at Dundee Stars as netminder Joe Fallon (above) back-stopped an impressive 4-0 victory for the home team.

Cardiff Devils enjoyed a solid start to their trip north of the border, winning 4-1 at Edinburgh and 5-4 after a shoot-out at Dundee.

The Devils couldn’t make it a six-point weekend as Fife Flyers raced to a 4-0 success – Brendan Brooks, Chase Schaber, Carlo Finucci and Justin Fox got the goals.

Belfast Giants lost 4-1 at Coventry Blaze, but bounced back to win 4-2 at Nottingham Panthers – Blair Riley, Brandon Benedict, Jim Vandermeer and Michael Forney were the scorers.

Taylor Dickin (2) topped the scoring for Manchester in their 4-3 home success against Nottingham, but Storm’s hopes of reaching the Challenge Cup quarter-finals were dealt a blow after a 3-0 defeat at Coventry.
