Belfast Giants enjoyed a productive New Year weekend on home ice to move just four points behind Elite League leaders Cardiff Devils.

Alex Foster weighed in with a couple of goals in Belfast’s 5-3 win against Braehead Clan, while David Rutherford (above) matched the feat during a 4-1 victory over Coventry Blaze.

Joey Martin, Gleason Fournier, Matthew Myers and Mark Louis were on target for Cardiff in their 4-1 home success against Dundee Stars.

Sheffield Steelers secured four points from their double-header against Manchester Storm, winning 2-1 at home and 4-1 on the road.

Nottingham Panthers had mixed fortunes at the National Ice Centre, losing 6-5 after overtime against Coventry before bouncing back with a 4-2 victory over Edinburgh Capitals.

Carlo Finucci (2) and Ryan Dingle (2) led the scoring for Fife in their 6-3 win at Edinburgh, but the Flyers failed to follow up at home to Braehead as the visitors recorded an impressive 4-1 success.
