Belfast Giants moved closer to Elite League leaders Cardiff Devils after picking up three points over the weekend.

Chris Higgins’ goal secured a 3-2 overtime success for Belfast at Cardiff and they collected another point from their narrow 5-4 shoot-out loss at Dundee Stars.

The Devils now have 49 points from 32 games, with the Giants on 46 points from 33 games.

Sheffield Steelers recorded two victories in their weekend double-header against Coventry Blaze, winning 6-5 on home ice and 4-3 after overtime on the road.

Fife Flyers lost 4-3 after overtime at home to Dundee, but bounced back to win 4-3 at Edinburgh Capitals.

Yevgeni Fyodorov grabbed the winner for Edinburgh in their 3-2 victory at Braehead Clan.

The Glasgow-based outfit completed a miserable weekend with a 6-3 defeat at Manchester Storm – Jack Prince hit a hat-trick for the home side.
