Cardiff Devils took a huge step towards the last four of the Elite Challenge Cup with a 4-1 victory at Dundee Stars in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

Jake Morissette put the visitors in front after seven minutes, but with Stars’ goalie Joe Fallon and his Devils counterpart Ben Bowns in fine form neither side could add to the tally by the end of the second period.

Nearly halfway through the final session Joey Martin got the last touch on a loose puck to give the Devils a 2-0 lead, but the Stars quickly hit back through Kevin Bruijsten.

Andrew Hotham made it 3-1 soon after, before Sean Bentivoglio put the icing on the cake with the Devils’ fourth in the final two minutes.

The second leg is scheduled for Wednesday, 21st December, at Ice Arena Wales.
