Cardiff Devils moved three points clear at the top of the Elite League after picking up a pair of wins against Coventry Blaze.

Leigh Salters scored twice in their 2-1 road success, while Tomas Kurka matched the feat in a 4-1 victory back on home ice.

Nottingham Panthers stay second despite a mixed bag of results from their Scottish road trip.

They started the weekend with a disappointing 5-2 loss at Dundee Stars – Curtis Leinweber (2) and Justin Faryna (2) led the scoring for the home team.

Nottingham looked set to lose again after falling 3-0 down at Braehead Clan, but goals by David Ling, Matthew Myers and Jeff Dimmen sent the game to overtime.

Neither team could find a breakthrough in the extra period, so the game went to a shoot-out where Juraj Kolnik held his nerve to secure the points for the visitors.

A visit to Fife Flyers rounded off the weekend, with the home team securing a comfortable 5-2 victory – Jeff Lee, Philippe Paquet, Justin Fox, TJ Caig and Michael Dorr got the goals. Please click the video above to hear Fife forward Ryan Dingle’s views on the game.

Sheffield Steelers are up to third in the table after a four-point weekend.

Goals by Robert Dowd, Ben O’Connor, Colton Fretter and Mathieu Roy sealed a 4-1 win at Fife, and they followed up with an impressive 3-1 home victory against Belfast Giants – Levi Nelson, Guillaume Desbiens and Cullen Eddy were on target.

Brett Switzer (3) and David Turon (2) topped the scoring for Dundee as they won 8-3 at home to Manchester Storm. That defeat completed a miserable weekend for the Altrincham-based outfit as they also crashed 4-1 on home ice against Belfast.

Chris Bruton (4) and Scott Pitt (3) led the way for Braehead as they cruised to a 10-2 success at Edinburgh Capitals.
