Edinburgh Capitals are on the lookout for a new coach after it was confirmed that last season’s Player/Coach Riley Emmerson has announced his retirement from the game.

Emmerson, who spent the last two years with the Murrayfield club, hopes to launch his own training camp for junior players near his home in British Columbia, Canada.

Club co-owner Scott Neil told the Edinburgh Evening News: “Riley made a massive impression in his time in Edinburgh and will be greatly missed by everybody at the club.

“Out of respect to him we wont be rushed into signing his replacement, and it’s certainly not something I’m panicking about.

“Our new coach will be the most important signing we make all summer and it’s not something I’ll be pressurised into doing.

“I expect we’ll make some player signings before we have our new coach in place.

“Some people will question that, but it’s not as if we’re lacking in recruitment qualifications ourselves.

“We know the sort of players we need and we’re doing all the required due diligence right now.”
