Following tonight’s results, the eight quarter finalists have been confirmed for the Challenge Cup as the tournament gets set for the knockout stages.

The latest results tonight have confirmed progression for Nottingham Panthers, following their win over Braehead Clan in Group A.

The 5-1 loss means Braehead won’t be involved any more in this season’s competition as well as Manchester Storm, who lost 3-1 to Sheffield Steelers.

Although Storm still have a game to play, if they were to reach four points with victory in their final match, it wouldn’t be enough to see them into the last eight.

So, tonight’s outcomes means Dundee Stars have qualified by virtue of having a better third place record in Group B and progress along with Belfast Giants and Fife Flyers.

Milton Keynes Lightning are through as Group C winners, but second and third place is still to be decided between the cup holders Cardiff Devils and Guildford Flames.

While both sides will progress, victory for the Flames in their final game against Coventry Blaze next Saturday will secure second place in the group.

Therefore, the following teams will be involved in the quarter finals of the 2017/18 edition of the Challenge Cup:

Sheffield Steelers

Nottingham Panthers

Belfast Giants

Fife Flyers

Dundee Stars

Milton Keynes Lightning

Cardiff Devils

Guildford Flames

The following teams have been eliminated from this season’s competition:

Braehead Clan

Manchester Storm

Edinburgh Capitals

Coventry Blaze

Information regarding the draw and fixtures for the quarter finals will follow in due course.
