Braehead Clan Head Coach Ryan Finnerty will stay at the club next season after they exercised a second year option in his contract.

The 35-year-old Canadian will return to the Clan for a fourth consecutive season having joined from the Sheffield Steelers in 2013.

During his three season stint, Finnerty has led the Clan to two Gardiner Conference titles and Champions Hockey League participation.

Hockey and Operations Director, Gareth Chalmers, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Ryan back for another season with the club.

“Ryan has brought the continued on ice progression that we’re looking for as an organisation and we’re looking forward to working with him again this season.”

Finnerty added: “I’m very happy to be returning to the Clan for the 2016/17 season.

“I am proud to coach the Clan in front of the superb Purple Army and the day-to-day challenge of progressing this great club even further forward on the ice.

“Plans are already at an advanced stage for the new season and we’re all looking forward to trying to take this club one step further.”
