Guildford Flames have added ‘D’ man Sam Waller to their roster.

The 24-year-old has played over 300 games in the EPL for Swindon Wildcats, Slough Jets and Bracknell Bees, and has also had spells in NIHL1 South with Wightlink Raiders and Bracknell Hornets.

Flames’ boss Pal Dixon said: “Sam is a defensive-minded defenseman which, despite the name of the position itself, is not always the case.

“We need guys back there to concern themselves primarily with protecting our net, and making a simple possession retaining pass that moves us onto the attack without losing good positioning for when the play inevitably turns back.

“In that respect we think Sam is a really good addition to our returning group, and we will be pleased to see him arrive at camp in September.”

Waller added: “I feel very privileged to be playing in a Flames jersey next season.

“This is an opportunity which has come at a perfect time in my career and will help me to excel and push myself to the next level.

“Since I first played in the league, Guildford has always been at the top. From the outside looking in, it is the best run team in the EPL.

“I am honoured to now be part of the set up and to help the team push for silverware next season.”
