Guildford Flames’ forward Andrew Hemmings has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The former Great Britain U18 player, who has previously iced for Bracknell Bees and Basingstoke Bison, is closing in on 500 appearances for the Flames.

Flames’ boss Paul Dixon said: “As a product of the local development system, Andy is right up there with the most successful players we have ever had come via that route.”

“When he joins the 500 game club he will be one of just three local players with that distinction – a noteworthy achievement to say the least.

“We are happy to see Andy return, and we look forward to his continuing contribution to the club’s success.”

“The first half of last season was tough for me and the team, but we pulled together when we needed to and got the results we wanted,” said Hemmings.

“In the second half of the season I really felt my game improved and I showed what I can do.

“I’m looking forward to replicating the second half of last season and rolling it into the start of the new campaign.

“We want to build from last season and win all three trophies.”
