Fife Flyers goaltender Andy Iles has been named Elite League Player of the Week for the period ending December 17th 2017.

Iles, who joined the Flyers during the summer after three seasons in the ECHL, made 20-saves during Saturday’s Challenge Cup Quarter-Final first leg tie with Belfast Giants at the Kirkcaldy Ice Arena, with the two sides left evenly poised at 3-3 heading into the second leg in Belfast on January 9th.

The 25-year-old then followed up that performance with a 43-save effort to help the in-form Flyers beat Sheffield Steelers 3-1 at the Sheffield Arena on Sunday night, making a string of top draw saves to help the Scottish side secure their fifth Elite League victory in a row.

The American puck stopper has now helped Fife win 13 of his 19 starts in the league so far this season, posting a .913 save percentage (ranked 4th in the Elite League) and 2.56 goals-against average (ranked 4th).

Iles and the Flyers will look to continue their current hot streak in Dundee on Friday night when they travel to Tayside to take on the Stars before making the long journey South to face Guildford Flames on Saturday.
