Fife Flyers have announced a double signing, with ‘D’ man Russ Moyer filling the final import slot while Jeff Hutchins has been appointed Assistant Coach and Director of Player Development.

Moyer won the Elite League title last season with Sheffield Steelers, scoring 3 goals with 20 assists in 66 games. He also made four appearances in the Champions Hockey League.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity in Fife and I’m very optimistic that we can have a very successful season with the group that is coming to the club this season,” said Moyer.

“I’ve been a part of three championships in the past four seasons and I’m looking forward to contributing and building on that.

“We have a good balance of youth and experience and I feel that we can be a team that should be competing at the top of the standings throughout the season.”

Hutchins is no stranger to the EIHL having played for Coventry Blaze, Belfast Giants, Newcastle Vipers, Edinburgh Capitals and Dundee Stars, before taking over as Player/Coach for the Stars during the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons.

He said: “Todd (Dutiaume) and I have been speaking about this role for some time and I’m glad that we’ve come to an agreement.

“I’m ecstatic to be joining such a storied franchise with some of the most passionate fans I’ve come across in professional hockey.

“Todd and I are looking forward to getting the guys on the ice for training camp and getting the season started.

“The organisation has set high expectations for the coming year and I’m looking forward to playing my part with the Flyers and developing the home grown talent.”
