Frantisek Bakrlik has agreed another year with MK Lightning.

Bakrlik joined Lightning from Bracknell Bees part way through last season and went on to score 25 goals with 20 assists in 36 games.

“When I arrived last year it was difficult for me and my family, but the great guys in the dressing room and the coaching staff made it easier,” he said.

“I’ve met lots of great people working for the team and big support from the fans – they were unbelievable in the play-offs.

“It’ll be a pleasure to play for Lightning again and be a part of a great organisation with the best support in the country.”

Head Coach Pete Russell added: “Frank is the best power forward in the league and scores big goals.

“He brings so much to our group not only on the ice but off it too. He is a great team player and wants to win.

“Frank does everything with strength and power – skates hard, hits hard and shoots hard. When he is on the ice other teams know and he is the most targeted player in the league but he handles it.

“Next season Frank will be here from the very start and that will help his game and his family. It’s always tough coming in mid-season, but he helped us so much in many ways when he did.

“He is held in such high regard by his teammates and I really like his character. I’m delighted he’s chosen to extend his stay here.”
