Glasgow’s Braehead Clan 1 Fife Flyers 4

Clan, British Ice Hockey
Glasgow’s Braehead Clan ended the weekend with defeat as they went down 4-1 to an in-form Fife Flyers.
While an even first period was being played out, neither goal was breached in the opening 20 minutes, but both teams did hit the post.
James Isaacs went close for the Flyers in the early stages as they enjoyed some early pressure, but his effort cannoned off Ryan Nie’s right hand post.
At the other end, Adam Brace went close with a shot from the inside right, however it was the same outcome as the teams went in after the first deadlocked.
That was to change in the second as Fife hit Clan with two goals around the halfway point of the period to turn the tide.
Isaacs created the first to set up Shayne Stockton, who got the better of home goalie Ryan Nie to get the opener, to the delight of the travelling Fife fans.
Just over a minute later, they added to it when Ian Young’s pass found Danick Gauthier in space and he sent his shot over Nie’s left shoulder and into the net.
Fife looked to have done enough as the minutes ticked down in the third period and Evan Bloodoff struck an empty net goal to all but secure the win.
However, Braehead provided a twist as Adam Brace found the net with a shot from a wide position to give the slightest glimmers of hope.
Bloodoff struck again with another gaping net to send the Flyers contingent home, with another victory under their belts.
