Glasgow’s Braehead Clan 3 Nottingham Panthers 5

Clan, British Ice Hockey
Glasgow’s Braehead Clan saw their Challenge Cup hopes take a dent as Nottingham Panthers took away a 5-3 victory in this Group A clash.
The Panthers got the best possible start after three minutes when Yann Sauvé lined up a shot from the blue line and smashed it into the net.
It didn’t take Clan long to respond as Brendan Brooks powered into a central position and squared to Tyler Scofield, who scrambled home the equaliser.
Panthers restored the lead with an exact replica of their first as another Sauvé blast from the blue line fizzed past Nie.
Once again, the home side managed to get themselves back on level terms as Scofield was teed up by Craig Peacock, coming in from the right and applying the finish.
But Corey Neilson’s men were in front once again as Evan Mosey held off Christoffer Bjorklund and squeezed the puck in past Nie, who was swapped for Gary Russell.
The visitors extended their lead as Zack Phillips set up Mosey, who bundled home from close range and the Clan were two behind.
But John Tripp’s side reduced the deficit when some confusion in the Panthers defence allowed Tyler Shattock to tap into an empty net.

Another blue line drive from Sauvé caused problems as Josh Shalla got enough of a redirect to take it past Russell and confirm the Challenge Cup points for the visitors.

The Clan welcome the Milton Keynes Lightning to Braehead Arena on Saturday (7:00pm face-off). Tickets are available now via braeheadclan.com or by calling 0844 499 1700.
