MK Lightning defensive stalwart Michael Farn will return to the EPL club for his eighth consecutive season in 2016/17.

The Durham-born player joined Lightning in 2009 and went on to claim a league winner’s medal in his first season.

Farn, who has made over 300 appearances for the club, said: “It’s always a pleasure to sign back and wear the MKL shirt. This town has become my home now and I love playing here.

“It was devastating falling short in the play-off final last season – and it doesn’t half make it a long summer.

“But it will make us hungrier not to have that feeling again and to come back stronger to win a trophy in our last year in the EPL.

“I’m already looking forward to the start of the season and to bringing home some silverware for the best fans in the league.”

Head Coach Pete Russell added: “Farny had a strong season last year and I really enjoyed working with him.

“He has good skating ability, a good skillset and comes to play every night. He plays in all situations and is very coachable.

“He was again a big part of the Lightning last season, which he has been for many years. Michael is a big part of the atmosphere in the locker room and has a real passion for hockey and for Milton Keynes.

“He’s a leader – he is very vocal and a great guy to have in the room.

“I’m delighted Farny has agreed to return for another season and I’m really looking forward to working with him again.”
