Milton Keynes Lightning forward Francis Verreault-Paul has been named EIHL Player of the Week for the period ending November 12th 2017.
The 30-year-old picked up an assist on Guillaume Doucet’s first period powerplay goal during a 5-4 overtime win against rivals Coventry Blaze at Planet Ice, Milton Keynes on Saturday, before putting in a tremendous display on Sunday in Manchester.
Facing an in-form Storm side at the Silver Blades Ice Rink in Altrincham, Verreault-Paul picked up assists on two Doucet powerplay goals either side of the first intermission before setting up defenceman Paul Phillips to score a third powerplay goal of the game for the Lightning.
Despite building a 3-1 lead thanks to those goals, Milton Keynes would fall behind early in the third period as Manchester fought back before Verreault-Paul turned goal scorer to level things just over five minutes into the frame.
With neither side able to settle things in regulation, the game moved into sudden death overtime where the Canadian found the back of the net again, bagging the game winning goal to secure a four point weekend for the Buckinghamshire side.
Verreault-Paul now has eight goals and 17 points in 15 Elite League games for the Lightning so far this season, adding a further nine points in five Challenge Cup games.
