Manchester Storm 5 Glasgow’s Braehead Clan 2

Clan, British Ice Hockey

Glasgow’s Braehead Clan saw their hopes of completing a four-point weekend dashed as Manchester Storm took the points in a 5-2 for them.

Clan’s second game in two games at Silverblades saw a recovery from Ryan Finnerty’s side as two late goals at the end of the second period turned the tide in their favour.

The home side were first on the board as Ciaran Long got on the end of a powerplay chance to open the scoring.

But Braehead hit back as a Ryan Potulny effort found its way into the net via a possible deflection as the visitors tied after the first period.

Felix Poulin got his first goal in Clan colours as he led an odd man rush, sending his shot over Storm goalie Mike Clemente the lead.

Manchester hit back with two minutes to go of the second period as they got the final touch on a scramble in front of the Clan crease, with Nate Fleming credited with the goal.

Then Matt Beca put Storm in front when he was set up by Scott Pitt and the goal proved to be the turning point.

Matt Stanisz made it 4-2 as Manchester made things a little more comfortable for themselves early in the third period.

But despite Braehead going for it in the final few minutes, Pitt killed off his former team with an empty net goal to make it honours even – one win each – after the double weekend in Altrincham.
