Cardiff Devils have confirmed netminder Ben Bowns has agreed a third year with the club.

Last season the 25-year-old posted the best goals against average (2.50) and best save percentage (91.8) out of any starting netminder in the Elite League.

He also led the league with 40 wins and posted the second most shutouts with four.

He played 62 games, helping the Devils to second place in the league, the Challenge Cup Final and the Erhardt Conference title.

His performances saw him selected as the EIHL’s First Team All-Star Netminder by the coaches and general managers around the league.

He also picked up Best Netminder and the Best British Player at the Elite League’s end of season awards.

Bowns said: “This team has shown a great deal of commitment to me and to making the Devils a top club again.

“From the owners to management to the coaching staff, everyone is pulling in the same direction and there’s no place I would rather be than here in Cardiff.

“It’s exciting to be a part of this and I’m pleased to be able to return for another year.

“I love the city, the fans are tremendous and the guys are like family. I’m looking forward to another big year.”

Player/Coach Andrew Lord added: “Ben was outstanding last season and he just keeps getting better.

“His numbers don’t lie – he was so consistent for us and gave us a chance to win every night.

“We are glad to have him back for another year and we are pleased to build our team around him.”
