Billingham Stars are up to second place in NIHL North Moralee D1 after a dominant home performance against Telford Tigers NIHL.

Dennis Bostrom (above) and Jack Watkins both scored twice in Stars’ 8-4 success – a result which puts the Teessiders just two points behind leaders Solway Sharks.

Charlie Thompson (2) and Lloyd Gibson (2) topped the scoring for Sutton Sting in their impressive 6-1 home victory over Deeside Dragons.

Blackburn Hawks had a disappointing weekend on home ice after losing in both the league and cup.

Hawks were beaten 4-2 by the Stars in the Northern Cup, while Shaun Kippin’s goal 52 seconds from time condemned them to a 3-2 league defeat against Whitley Warriors.

In Laidler D2, Scott Barnett’s hat-trick was the highlight of Blackburn Eagles’ 5-4 victory at Nottingham Lions.

Sheffield Senators won 5-1 at home to Coventry Blaze NIHL, but they failed to follow up at Widnes Wild as the hosts edged home by the odd goal in seven.

Hull Jets enjoyed a four-point weekend, winning 9-5 at home to Bradford Bulldogs and 5-1 at Coventry.
