Nottingham Panthers have failed in their bid to host the 2017 IIHF Continental Cup Final, with Italy’s Ritten Sport chosen instead to stage the event.

The tournament is scheduled for January 13th and 15th, with the Panthers and Ritten joining Denmark’s Odense Bulldogs and Kazakh champions Beibarys Atyrau in the four-team final.

The competition winner progresses to play in the 2017/18 Champions Hockey League, pending formal approval by the CHL board.

The last three winners – Norway’s Stavanger Oilers, Neman Grodno from Belarus and French side Rouen Dragons – all took part in the CHL after claiming the Continental Cup.
