Nottingham Panthers have signed Canadian defenseman Franklin McDonald.

The 30-year-old spent the last six seasons in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga in Austria with EHB Linz, winning a championship in 2011/12.

This season McDonald has iced for the Clarenville Caribous in the NLSHL and he has previous ECHL and AHL experience on his CV.

Panthers’ Head Coach Corey Neilson said: “We’ve been looking at the way we’re playing for a few weeks and wanted to strengthen the D-corps, ideally with a leftie – Franklin does that.”
