Peterborough Phantoms have become the third PIHL club to confirm they will be applying to join the NIHL.

The Phantoms follow Swindon Wildcats and Hull Pirates in expressing an interest in switching leagues, after being advised to do so by EIHA boss Ken Taggart.

Club owners Dave and Jo Lane said: “We understand this is a turbulent time for fans across all of the leagues including the NIHL, but we will be doing our utmost to make sure ice hockey remains in the UK and locally.

“Phantoms want to compete at the highest level and pursue our team ethos in developing players to a high standard.

“The Phantoms are a strong and sustainable business model and have strong financial foundations, which we have built and worked hard on over the years.”
