Telford Tigers’ defender Dan Scott has arrived back in Shropshire a week early ahead of a ‘serious challenge’ for the EPL title.

The 24-year-old will start his third full season and is set to form a key part of Telford’s defensive amoury, after Head Coach Tom Watkins signed four import forwards during a summer overhaul of his squad.

Scott said: “I came back a week early to help out at the camp, but it’s also nice to have a week to settle in, meet some of the boys who are already back and get housing sorted.

“Next week, when pre-season starts, it’s all about getting the hockey legs going again, but also getting to grips with the new characters in the team. That is always very important.

“I’m excited to be back in Telford, and Tom has signed some great players over the summer. I reckon we’ll be able to mount a serious challenge for the title next season.

“We have got to try and click straight away. Last year was quite a similar team to the year before when we won, but we had a tough start to the season.

“We’ve got a tough start again this year, looking at the calendar, so it is important that all the boys are on the same page. If we do that, then there’s no reason why we can’t get off to a winning start.”
