Smith and Bell extend Steeldogs stay

Sheffield Steeldogs have confirmed Tim Smith and Lewis Bell are returning to the club for another season.

Both players are products of Sheffield’s junior system and have established themselves as key members of the Steeldogs’ roster.

Player/Coach Greg Wood said: “Last year we saw Tim’s most prolific and accomplished season – he was one of our best players.

“He’s so mobile on the puck and he’s a really good skater with a really good first pass and that mobility is the way I want to go with the team.

“He’s a good player and he took the opportunities we gave him last year. With him being a left handed defenseman who has a good shot, I used him on all my powerplay units.

“He gives me another option. All credit to him for the progress he made.

“Lewis did a great job as a leader when I made him an Alternate Captain.

“He’s not overly vocal, but if something needs to be said he’s not afraid to stand up and say it.

“He’s calm and a good role model – he’s definitely going to be in my thoughts when I look for my leaders.”
