Dundee Stars have confirmed the signing of Canadian forward Scott Brannon from the ECHL’s Rapid City Rush.

The 26-year-old was a teammate of Justina Faryna during the last three seasons and previously captained Moncton Wildcats to the QMJHL title in 2010.

Stars’ boss Marc LeFebvre said: “Scott is the type of player that will help us with our play-off push. He brings a lot of grit to our line-up and is the type of player that helps teams win championships.

“It’s been a tough market this year for players and initially we were looking for a direct replacement for David (Turon) at the backend.

“Unfortunately the quality of player we were looking for, which could be contained within our budget, was not out there.

“We therefore turned our intentions to finding a quality forward that would make our team better and we have certainly found that in Scott.”

Brannon added: “I’m very excited to be joining Dundee for the remainder of this season. I look forward to a strong play-off run and I’d like to thank the whole Stars organisation and Coach LeFebvre for this great opportunity.

“I understand that the club has great fans and I am looking forward to getting started.”
