Dundee Stars have confirmed the signing of netminder Joe Fallon.

After being drafted the Chicago Blackhawks in 2005, the 31-year-old American gained valuable experience in the AHL and ECHL before heading to Europe.

Fallon has iced for the last three seasons Norway, Denmark and Germany, spending last year with Lausitzer Füchse in DEL2.

“I am very happy to be a part of the Stars organisation,” said Fallon. “I’m looking forward to working with the guys in Dundee and helping them move up the standings next year.”

Stars’ Head Coach Marc LeFebvre said goaltending was one area he was keen to upgrade for the 2016/17 season.

He commented: “Joe is the type of goalie I have been looking for. He brings size, experience and hockey savvy.

“He has a great reach and a strong presence on the ice and he is very keen to play in Dundee.

“We now have a strong core signed up and we will be looking to add more pieces to the roster in the near future.”

One player who won’t be with Stars next season is forward Lou Dickenson after he confirmed his retirement via social media on Wednesday.

Dickenson enjoyed a prolific year in Dundee, scoring 26 goals with 40 assists in 63 games.
