Sheffield Steelers have signed forward Geoff Walker from Italian outfit HC Fassa.

The Canadian has enjoyed a prolific season in the Alps Hockey League, topping the scoring charts with 20 goals and 32 assists in 32 games.

Steelers boss Paul Thompson said: “We’re thrilled that Geoff is joining us – to bring a player with his ability and quality to the club so late in the season is a great addition.

“I wanted a player who would be an impact and i believe very much he will be.

“We’ve been talking for a while – Geoff was very much sought after by teams all over Europe and here in the UK.

“We stayed with the process as we were confident Geoff was the right player for us. I wanted some size and a natural goalscorer and he brings both.

“Geoff sounds very excited to join us. He had the pick of several clubs, all good clubs with great pedigrees. He chose the Steelers – he wants to be a Steeler and that was very important to me.”
