Sheffield Steelers have confirmed they have released Chris Lawrence.

The Canadian forward joined the club after his release from Coventry Blaze as injury cover for Colton Fretter.

In 17 games Lawrence scored 7 goals and 14 points for the Steelers, including the game winning goal against former club Nottingham Panthers who he has now signed a short-term deal with.

Sheffield Head Coach Paul Thompson said: “Now the club is back to full strength it is unfortunately time to move on.

“We would like to thank Chris for all of his efforts here. He has been a first class team mate and we have enjoyed his time as a Steeler. We wish him nothing but good luck going forward.”

Nottingham boss Corey Neilson commented: “He knows us, he knows our systems and he will be a good fit.

“We’ve got three games in three nights this weekend in Scotland and we will be without the injured Brad Moran and Stephen Schultz and young Ollie Betteridge is away on international duty.”
