Coventry Blaze boss Danny Stewart praised his team after two impressive home performances in the league and cup last weekend.

Blaze ended a run of four successive defeats with a 4-1 victory over Belfast Giants in the Elite League on Saturday, and followed up with a 3-0 Challenge Cup success against Manchester Storm on Sunday.

Stewart said: “It was a great team performance (against Belfast).

“Stewie (Brian Stewart) made some great saves, our ‘D’ battled hard, ‘V’ (Ross Venus) with a couple of goals, Klotzy (Garrett Klotz) gets another one, that scoring from our depth guys is key. I can’t say enough – it was a great performance.

“All weekend the guys put in the effort. They bought into playing a certain way and it was good to see. Last weekend wasn’t a good weekend – it was a tough one, but we put it behind us.

“Credit to the guys, they took it upon themselves to have some team meetings and I think it probably did them some good. There were some real home-truths and they came out and performed.”
