Danny Stewart says Coventry Blaze need to cut out “silly mistakes” if they’re to make it into the Elite League play-offs.

Blaze lost 6-3 at home to Cardiff Devils on Saturday, before falling 4-2 at Braehead Clan the following day, and are now just two points ahead of Dundee Stars in the battle for eighth place.

With Blaze having played two games more than the Stars, Stewart believes his team need to reduce the number of errors they’re making.

“Any time you give up six goals at home, it’s not a good feeling,” he said.

“We made too many mistakes against a good team again. I felt for a large part of the game we defended a little bit better but we don’t bend, we just break and make silly mistakes that are ending up in the back of our net.

“The boys played much better on Sunday. We executed very well, and I thought it was a game that could have gone either way.

“Unfortunately, they were just a bit more clinical than us and found a way to win the game. I thought Brian Stewart had one of his better games in a while and he was unlucky.”
