Telford Tigers tightened their grip on the EPL title race with two impressive victories over the weekend.

The Tigers followed up Saturday’s 8-2 success at Swindon Wildcats with a 6-2 home win against Bracknell Bees to extend their lead over MK Lightning to nine points.

Head Coach Tom Watkins said: “Thankfully, we came through the weekend with another four points and nobody has come out of it looking too injured.

“Right now it’s a case of keeping guys healthy on the ice and making sure we keep on picking up wins.

“We play a lot of hockey through February and we’ve got those two midweek games over the next few weeks.

“Staying healthy is going to be a key component of us being able to chase down this title.”

Saturday’s result at Swindon never looked in doubt after the Tigers raced into a 4-1 lead by the end of the first period.

Milan Kolena finished the game with a hat-trick, but Watkins praised his entire team for a clinical road performance.

“It was all about picking up the points on the road tonight, no matter how we did it,” he added.

“Swindon is always a tough place to play, but we got the job done and fortunately got a couple of good early goals.

“I thought we were solid in all departments and our penalty killing was excellent.

“It was important that we got the puck to the net and made the most of the secondary effort.”
