Tripp pleased after four point weekend

Clan, British Ice Hockey

Glasgow’s Braehead Clan coach John Tripp was pleased to see his team complete a four-point win, calling Sunday’s 4-3 victory over Dundee Stars ‘important’.

Clan remain in eighth in the Elite League standings, but have opened up a five-point gap over the Stars after beating them twice this weekend.

However Tripp insists the Stars still have the advantage in the play-off race as he anticipated next week’s three-in-three weekend.

“The table turned in our favour and we let the game get a little into their control in the third period and let them back into it,” he said post afterwards.

“The bottom line is we found a way to win and that’s what’s important for us at this time.

“We may be five points clear, but Dundee still have three games in hand. They have to win them, but they still have advantage.

“For us, it was important to win these games and we’ve got three games in three days coming up next week and that will be tough.

“There’s no easy games as we go down the road. We seem to be playing better and after Fife on Friday, we play Coventry before the quick turnaround when we go to Nottingham.

“Hopefully we can get some bodies back and I’m pleased at how the weekend has ended for us.”
